Dissolution
What Is A Dissolution Of Marriage?
A Dissolution of Marriage is a process, under the law of the State of Ohio, to terminate a marriage. This process permits a married couple to maintain absolute and complete control over their agreements on parenting, support and property issues. Simply put, the spouses settle all issues before anything is filed with the Court. There are a number of ways to reach these agreements, including negotiation, mediation and the collaborative process. The documents encompassing the settlement of all issues, including a Petition for Dissolution, a Separation Agreement, and if applicable, a Parenting Plan, are filed with the Court. Once done, a final hearing is scheduled. The entire process takes less than 90 days to complete.
A Dissolution of Marriage is an uncontested format, unlike a divorce.
Under Kentucky Law, the termination of a marriage is called a Dissolution of Marriage, whether the matter is contested or uncontested.
